The main reason I, until recently, believed in an afterlife was because it scared me to think that after I died, there would be nothing. I think most people tend to believe in some form of life after death for this reason.

But now I hope that when I die it will be just like before I was born. It has never scared me to think about the time before I was alive because history is documented. I can look at pictures, watch videos, and read texts of events in the world before I was in it.

At this point, I think it is scary to conceive of a time after this life in which I will be punished or rewarded.
