aging differently

  • me: I never thought I would get to 24 or 25 or any age beyond 17
  • Katie: 17 was my dream age
  • me: it used to be that 24 was like adult - like real women were 24. I'm so young and i dont feel like a "real woman." I don't know how mom and dad were able to raise me when they were just 24.
  • I think people grew up faster back then
  • Katie: no kidding. even in videos and such they seem so much older than you are now. Maybe it's just because we see them now as old, and the pictures themselves look old.
  • me: maybe. but I truly believe people are aging differently. I think it's because of our value systems. What's important to them is not at all what's important to me.
  • I want to travel and do things for myself -- but they wanted kids by my age.
  • A few folks my age are like that but i wouldn't say the majority.
  • Katie: do you also think a factor in this is that kids aren't necessarily kicked out of their parents' house after high school? I think we are kind of allowed to be young longer
  • me: agreed
  • Katie: its a new generation baby
