drumspeak

I enjoy hearing how other people say their drums talk. When drummers describe licks using their mouths and voices to sound like the drums — I call this drumspeak. 

Carl’s drumspeak:

• snare says gack
• bass says uung
• toms say goong
• cymbals can say skkksshhhh, blam, or crash
• chinas always say “china”

I asked Thommy Browne, about his drumspeak. His bass says “doom” and his snare says “pah.”
